Cuisine: Grill, International, Seafood
Price Point: Mains from €20 - €35+

Overlooking South Mall in the Maldron Hotel, Grain & Grill awaits you with open arms and delicious plates made entirely from locally sourced ingredients.

Grain & Grill is a stylish and relaxed space with more than enough room to swing a cat in. Why not arrive slightly early and crash into one of their enormous armchairs in their spacious lounge area!

Their grill section showcases some of the best meat from North Cork. There are two steaks to choose from as well as a lamb tomahawk and the chef's signature surf and turf if you're really ravenous. The seafood offerings are really varied and include monkfish medallions, a hake fillet and a seriously luxurious plate of scallops and Atlantic langoustines. If you don't fancy meat at all, look to the Thai green vegetable curry that comes with rice and crispy poppadums.

Wash it all down with some specially chosen craft beers. Some of the best names are here, like Smithwick's Red Ale and Hop House 13.

This was my first time using First Table and I was unsure of what to expect. We arrived to a very friendly welcome from staff and were seated immediately. We received two menus - a regular menu and an Earlybird Special. We asked about the Earlybird Special and were taken aback to learn that the First Table discount still applied to this great offer (3 courses for €25 - with an impressive varied selection.)

We had a really lovely evening. The food was incredible. Portion sizes were very generous and the food was flavoursome and so filling. The steak burger was especially tasty! Staff at Grill & Grain were friendly and kind, the service was prompt and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and it was a very pleasant and comfortable experience.

Grain & Grill is definitely a place that I will return to again in the near future.

Had a meal from the set menu here on Friday early evening (5.30pm) while they restaurant itself was very quiet, there was a lively buzz around the foyer and adjoining bar. The food was excellent and the service attentive but not intrusive. The seafood chowder ranked among the best we have tasted. The mains : Thai Green Curry and Pan Fried Hake each were delicious and the desserts very good. All and all we thoroughly enjoyed the experience

We had a lovely experience here . I had the prawns for starter which was lovely and really enjoyed a bit expensive at 12 euro but they were enjoyed. For main I had the monk fish which was lovely but would have preferred it to be paired with something else other than risotto, found it too rich. My friend had lamb which was overcooked but was nice all the same. Dessert was creme brulee which was very nice. Overall it was a lovely meal

Thanks
Esther

A group of 4 of us eat at the Grain and Grill on the South Mall last night. The venue is a new build so really modern. I cannot commend enough the great service we received. A lady by the name of Karen looked after our table and was very pleasant, chatty and helpful with our questions. The deal we were offered was a set menu...normally €25 for 3 courses but with first table deal was only €12.50 pp. Wow...what great value....the food was delicious and well presented. Plenty of choice on the menu to suit everyone. I would highly recommend availing of the first table offer. Will definitely return and spread the word!

We had a very enjoyable meal at the Grain and Grill on Thursday evening. For a Hotel / Restaurant not open long they certainly have hit the ground running.A lovely dining area and great well trained staff made for a very pleasant welcome. Our starters of Chicken Liver Pate and Lamb Koftas from a choice of 8 were very good and generous and a great start to our evening. Our main courses were 10 oz Sirlion steak with chips battered onions and mushrooms and Fresh Scallops and Langoustines with Coriander rice and white wine sauce were both delicious. We just about managed a Pavlova between us for dessert. One of us was lucky to have two glasses of a very nice Savignon Blanc. The food bill came to €73.56 so with the First Table discount we paid €36.78 +€13 for the wine a total of €49.78.for a really lovely meal.So far the restaurant choices of First Table have been top class. We are looking forward to trying the rest of them in Cork.

It was my first time using First Table and also first time in Gran and Grill! 5 star ⭐️ for both.
Using the online reservation platform was easy efficient and so cost effective. This will be my new best friend.
On arrival at Grain and Grill we were warmly greeted and given a choice of tables. Lovely comfortable seats very nice decor and spotless.
The menu had a great selection to suits all diners. We choose fish and chips and chicken salad. Presentation of the food was wonderful which I like as we eat we our eyes!!! The mains were delicious and we all cleared our plates. Desserts followed salted caramel tart yum yum and cheesecake. The waiting staff couldn’t have been nicer and nothing was too much trouble.
Great spot in the middle of the city. I will definitely return.

We were back to First Table at the Maldron again last night and had a very enjoyable night out. This is a great place to visit everything about the place is so professional .We got our usual lovely warm welcome and our choice from some nice tables. In our opinion the food from the set menu is the best value in Cork. 3 course €25 or 2 courses €20. We had Chowder and Deep Fried Brie. Both were delicious . Our mains were Sirloin Steak with all the trimmings and Thai Green Curry .Both dishes we would strongly recommend .One Pavlova and one of us full at this stage. There is a supplement of €7 with the steak again with the First Table 50% deduction incredible value. We spent €18.50 on wine and €26 on food +€3 on a pot of tea.Total bill €47.50.As good as you would get anywhere a lovely place with great food and great staff.

Booked the Grain & Grill at The Maldron Hotel with First Table and as we had dined here previously we knew what to expect. Good food and Good service.
The Restaurant still has the newly opened feel but midweek they have it split with a cosier section so it didnt feel at all Hotel like, but cosy and intimate. The decor is quite pleasant and we were given a choice of any table we preferred. Drinks to start came from the bar attached and once our orders were taken, the food did not take long at all to be served. Starters were extremely generous and very well presented. The Cubed fried Brie was fab!!

Mains again were well proportioned and well presented. The Thai Curry was superb and as authentic a Thai Curry as you could eat. The Angus burger was fab and was oozing with melted cheese ( always a good thing )

Waitress was pleasant and stopped for a chat too, which is a nice touch. They had some leftover treats from the coffee shop located to the front of the hotel and gave us some to sample. All in all a very nice and personal experience.

Would highly recommend The Grain & Grill and given the fact that they run the First Table offer alongside their own dining offer, then you can sit 2 people for 3 courses each for under €25 - I mean, sure where would ya be goin!!!!!

Dining at Grain and Grill was a great experience. The food really lovely. Go for the Seafood Chowder, it is stuffed full of fish and has just the right amount creaminess. The Hake was delish too. This is such a good idea for travellers who may not know where to eat. I wish I’d got the name of the man who served both at the bar and the restaurant he was warm welcoming and gave great service. All was more than absolutely worth the money. Thank you

The menu published on the First Table app isn’t the one you get in the restaurant. Apparently the 50% discount only applies to a set meal menu. This isn’t notified anywhere during the booking.
