Cuisine: A La Carte, Cocktail Bar, Public House
Price Point: Mains from €15 - €30

Located in a building over two centuries old, Oyster Tavern is a dining experience like no other.

It's just seconds away from the historical English Market which means that most of their ingredients are super fresh and locally sourced. Inside, the old building has been given a dynamic makeover in the style of a swish, colourful, American diner. Relax into a comfy booth or swanky bar stool and soak in the buzz.

Now, you can't go to the Oyster Tavern and not try the oysters! The oyster seafood platter is brimming with fruits of the sea like scampi, calamari and oyster haven mussels. If that's too fishy for your liking, go for the beef fillet or charcuterie board that comes with chicken liver pate, chorizo and other deli delights. If there's a veggie in the gang, there's a Mezz board or Veggie Stack

And with bespoke, Instagram-worthy beverages, The Oyster Tavern is the place to go for a supper with wow factor.

Fantastic from start to finish. The staff were so obliging and the food was beyond excellent. We had mussels, scampi, steak and the chicken wings. One of our party had the steak which was melt in the mouth. All in all one of the best meals we all had in a long time. Cannot praise the Oyster highly enough. Also the wine list is extensive and the cocktails which unfortunately we did not get to try looked amazing....can't wait to return!

We arrived at the Oyster on Thursday evening and we're greeted by a member of staff and seated straight away. With such a varied menu it was hard to choose, I had the mussels for starters and my friend had the calamari, both were very tasty. I chose the fillet steak as my main course and my friend opted for the main portion of Mussels. The steak was beautifully cooked with a side of champ mash and we shared a portion of seasonal vegetables also, we didn't make it to desert but will definitely be back to try them again. All the fish and meats are locally sourced from the English market next to the restaurant so you know you're getting quality fresh produce.
All in all the food and service were both excellent for our first experience of booking with first table.

Myself and my partner didn't know what to expect from The Oyster Tavern for dinner but we can honestly say it was one of the best meals we have ever had! The atmosphere was great for a tuesday night, it was busy but not packed and we could pick where we wanted to sit which was nice. The staff are a credit, they get to know everyone coming into the bar and are so chatty and friendly. We tried oysters for the first time and the waiter was so helpful as we didn't know what to do!
We got the calamari and chicken wings for starters-10/10 amazing. Perfectly cooked.
We got the fish and chips and roast chicken for mains. Both devine. Would highly recommend the chicken. So tasty and filling.
The apple crumble for dessert was the icing on the cake. Beautiful.
I can't recommend dining at The Oyster Tavern enough. We cannot wait to go back ourselves!! 10/10. Book immediately if not sooner!!

We had a great meal in The Oyster Tavern last night. They have a great menu the problem is deciding what to pick.Eventually we took the advice of some First Table members who had eaten there recently. We started with a plate of breads and dips + marinated olives and it was a good choice based on what was to come. The main course was the Sharing Fish Platter for two again with some bread .We had asked our waiter about ordering some sides like chips etc with it but he suggested not to.He said decide later when you get the fish and if you still want them I will bring them.He was right .The plates consisted of mussels deep fried prawns calamari and various fish gougons .Accompanied by a lovely French wine made this a meal to remember. The desert of the day was a White Chocolate Cheescake and was top class. We haven't been to The Oyster for a long time and it was great to see it has regained the wonderful atmosphere it had for many years. The staff ,everyone of them ,were wonderful ,very efficient and very good humoured. They obviously like working there .Last night was a great experience and we will be back.

My boyfriend and I booked a table at The Oyster Tavern as soon as I saw First Table was live in Cork. Everything was perfect - from the ease of the booking, to the service and to the food itself.

We were greeted warmly and were given a lovely table. We shared bread and dips and the croquettes for starter, both of which were so tasty. I ordered the fish and chips while my boyfriend ordered the steak. The meat was cooked to perfection and the portions were so big! Finally, we shared the cookie dessert which has a cooking time of 10 minutes but is so worth it. We also got amazing cocktails.

The value for money in The Oyster Tavern is very good anyway, so with the First Table deal on food you really can't go wrong.

First Table is a very welcome addition to Cork and I can't wait to discover more restaurants using it!

Great food and great service. Also really delicious cocktails! Only point of criticism is the steak was a little cold when it came out, but that is a small thing. Will happily return!

Had a lovely evening. We were offered a choice of tables in the bar as upstairs only opens from Thursday which was a bit disappointing. The atmosphere was fabulous and the waiting staff were so friendly/ helpful and courteous. Highly recommend!! I’ll definitely be back

We spend a delightful evening at The Oyster Tavern yesterday. The atmosphere of this place is BEAUTIFUL, relaxing and well thought through details everywhere. One of the most amazing bars I've seen in Cork. The staff is very kind and helpful and the food was lovely. We thoroughly recommend the Seafood Platter for two people, you wont be disappointed!!

The decor of the Oyster Tavern is beautiful, it feels like you're in another city almost, especially the upstairs dining area. This was closed as we booked on a Monday but I can't wait to dine there on a weekend night. We were warmly greeted and seated. The drinks were fabulous! The food was also great, we shared the veggie mezz to start and we all got the veggie corn stacks. Would love to see more vegan dishes on the menu however, the kitchen are very accommodating.
Overall, great experience, service was excellent.
This was mine and my 3 friends first experience using First Table, and we're looking forward to using it again!
