Heading out in Temple Bar? Begin your night in style at this cool, contemporary pizzeria.

Inspired by the buzzing pizza joints of Naples, the MacHugh twins decided to bring a slice of the action back to their home city and boy did they deliver. Lit by skylights and daubed with tasteful green paint, the dining room sprawls across the ground floor of the Skylab building.

Sano means ‘healthy’ and the bases are made with just four ingredients and fermented for a minimum of 48 hours, before being seared to chewy perfection in traditional stone ovens imported from Naples.

The majority of toppings come from the motherland. Tuck into the likes of the diavola (spicy salami from Calabria) or the rucola (Italian ham, tangy parmesan and a generous glug of olive oil), or opt for one of the specials, which change weekly to reflect the seasons. Vegan and gluten-free options are also available.

Whet your whistle with a local craft beer or well-priced choice of house wines and rest assured that you’ve just had the best pizza experience this side of Naples.

This was our second time using first table, which I happened to find when searching for eateries in Dublin. It is a great deal - very easy to use and you eat at half price. The experience at Sano Pizza was very pleasant. The waiters were very friendly and professional. The food was great, very authentic. When I had my rucola pizza, I closed my eyes and I was back in Italy. The only thing we could put a finger on was the quantity of fruit on the nutella pizza, which we shared for dessert. It was great, but with a little more fruit it would have been fantastic. When we return to Dublin we will definitely go there again.

Absolutely excellent pizza and amazing tiramisu! Staff were friendly and the music was great - would thoroughly recommend to a friend, has unseated Pi for me as my favourite pizzeria in Dublin.
