A daring vegan restaurant that is encouraging us to rethink the limits of plant-based food, Coco Sova is promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle in central Dublin. And it's delicious, to say the least.
What used to be Sova Vegan Butcher is now Coco Sova, but no matter its name, this establishment has prided itself in preparing vegan food which is quite simply unbelievable. It makes sense that their restaurant is clean and leafy, offering up a cosy dining room that's punctuated by rustic tables, nature-inspired art and heaps of potted plants. Its farmhouse vibe very much reinforces its land-to-plate philosophy, inviting diners to enjoy innovative and imaginative food in a familiar and intimate setting.
When it comes to the dinner menu, forget everything you thought you knew about vegan food and prepare to be mesmerised. Inspired by the Japanese cuisine, the menu offers up teriyaki tofu with avocado and shitake mushrooms, edamame salad and, perhaps the most surprising of all, uramaki spicy tuna that is indistinguishable from the real thing. All bursting with flavour, texture and that certain meatiness we only associate with a non-vegan lifestyle, these plates are quite simply amazing.
Aside from that are the nutritious bowls that are brimming with anything from classic burrito ingredients with soya mince to chimichurri, okra, seaweed and sweet potato. Who says a salad has to be boring! At Coco Sova, food is a tool to excite and surprise; you'll definitely be back for more.
