As wine bars go, it's pretty up there!
Like something out of rural France, it's rustic and intimate with worn, wooden furnishings that give the feeling that it's been pouring pristine glasses of wine for aeons. Couple that with low ceilings, playful blackboards and soft lighting and you have yourself a date night worthy of any Amy McAdams rom-com.
In keeping with their catchy motto, 'fab food, fine wines, fun times', their menu is packed with honest, hearty plates that are like a warm embrace on a chilly evening. Hitting all the right notes with some guilty pleasures are the starters which include an irresistible double-coated brie with tomato relish, chicken wings in a hot BBQ sauce and tempura prawns with a fresh Asian salad.
Then there are the big plates, 'big' being an understatement. Feast on the finest Irish fare with the tender slow-braised lamb shank, that literally melts in the mouth and is accompanied by creamy mash and root vegetables. Go fancy with the duck leg confit or let your vegetarian side out with the asparagus tortellini with the slightest hint of truffle oil.
Did we mention the wine? And that they're experts in crushed grapes? Feel free to ask the friendly staff for their recommendations, or try their weekly changing wine flights.
Get the party started with an award-winning cocktail. Nothing says good times like the pineapple rickey, bourbon old fashioned on a hand-carved cube of ice, or the iconic French 75, made with an explosive Gunpowder Gin.
In all seriousness, these cocktails will blow you away...and if cocktails don't take your fancy, they make one of the finest Irish coffees in the land
