General Terms and Conditions

Welcome to First Table's Terms and Conditions for use in Ireland. 

This legal notice applies to the services provided by First Table Limited (“we”, “us”), the contents of the website under the domain name www.firsttable.ie and the associated mobile application ("Platform").

Please read this agreement carefully. These represent the Terms and Conditions for using this Platform. By using the Platform and/or by creating an account with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. By continued use of this Platform you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

You are permitted to use our Platform solely on the basis of these Terms and Conditions. We reserve the right to update and/or revise these Terms and Conditions from time to time for legal, regulatory, operational or service-related reasons. Where we make changes that are material, we will provide you with reasonable notice before the changes take effect.

Existing confirmed bookings will continue to be governed by the terms in force at the time of booking unless changes are required by law or genuine operational necessity. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions. 

1. Use of the Platform

1.1 Subject to these Terms and Conditions, you are authorised to view and use our Platform for your personal use only. First Table may change, suspend or discontinue the Platform at any time, including the availability of any feature, database, or content, where reasonably necessary for legal, regulatory, security, technical or other operational reasons. First Table may also impose limits on certain features and services or restrict your access to parts or all of this Platform where reasonably necessary for legal, regulatory, security or operational reasons and, where practicable, on reasonable notice to you. Nothing in this clause affects any statutory rights or remedies you may have under applicable law.

1.2 You shall be responsible for obtaining and maintaining any equipment or ancillary services needed to connect to, access or otherwise use the Platform, including, without limitation, modems, hardware, software, and long distance or local telephone service.

1.3 The Platform may contain additional terms (for example conduct guidelines) that further govern the use of the Platform, including without limitation particular features or offers (for example competitions). If any Terms and Conditions contained in this agreement conflict with any other terms and conditions contained within the Platform, then the Terms and Conditions in this agreement shall prevail.

1.4 To the maximum extent permitted by law, First Table will not be liable to you for any losses, damages, liability, claims or expenses (whatsoever and irrespective of whether direct, indirect, consequential) arising from the use of the Platform or from the use of, or inability to use, any service booked or purchased using the Platform. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by fraud, wilful default, or any statutory consumer rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

2. Registration and security

2.1 You must ensure that the details provided by you on registration or at any time are correct and complete. You must inform us immediately of any changes to the information that you provided when registering by updating your personal details. You must give us your real name, phone number, email address and any other details that we may require to process your booking.

2.2 We reserve the right to decline a new customer registration or restrict or suspend a customer’s account at any time where reasonably necessary, including where we reasonably suspect breach of these Terms and Conditions, fraud, misuse of the Platform, unlawful activity, security concerns, where there is a request from a Restaurant to restrict you from making future bookings with them, or where required for legal or regulatory reasons. In accordance with applicable law, we will provide notice and an opportunity to contact our support team regarding any moderation activity we take.

2.3 First Table reserves the right to terminate your access to all or part of the services with or without notice where reasonably necessary, including for material breach of these Terms and Conditions, suspected fraud or misuse, security concerns, legal or regulatory requirements, or genuine operational necessity. Where practicable, First Table will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity for you to contact us before termination takes effect. Where First Table cancels a paid booking or paid service for reasons unrelated to your breach of these Terms and Conditions, you will receive an appropriate refund or credit in accordance with applicable law.

2.4 First Table reserves the right to discontinue the Platform or services, or any part thereof, at any time, where reasonably necessary for legal, regulatory, technical, security or operational reasons. Where practicable, First Table will provide reasonable advance notice of material discontinuation of the Platform. Where discontinuation affects an existing booking or service, you will receive any refund or credit required by applicable law.

2.5 First Table may change the Platform or delete features in any way, at any time where reasonably necessary for legal, regulatory, technical, security or operational reasons. Where changes materially affect the services or existing bookings, First Table will provide reasonable notice where practicable and nothing in this clause shall affect any statutory consumer rights or remedies.

3. Member conduct

3.1 You may not use the Website for any of the following purposes:

  • Disseminating any unlawful, harassing, libellous, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable material.
  • Transmitting material that is or which encourages conduct that constitutes a criminal offence, results in civil liability or otherwise breaches any relevant laws, regulations or code of practice.
  • Gaining unauthorised access to other computer systems.
  • Interfering with any other person's use or enjoyment of the Platform.
  • Breaching any laws concerning the use of public telecommunications networks.
  • Interfering or disrupting networks or websites connected to the Platform.
  • Making, transmitting or storing electronic copies of materials protected by copyright without the permission of the owner.
  • Engaging in technically harmful behaviour, which includes but is not limited to: computer viruses, logic bombs, trojan horses, worms, harmful components, corrupted data and other malicious software or harmful data.

3.2 First Table reserves the right to refuse to post material on our Platform or to remove material already posted on the Platform.

4. Privacy

4.1 Registration data and certain other information about you is subject to our Privacy Policy, which has been updated recently to include important information about First Table's use of cookies on this Platform. You can read First Table's Privacy Policy here.

5. Booking terms and conditions

5.1 The booking fee buys you the right to receive the applicable discount on the food bill at the participating restaurant for the number of diners specified in your reservation confirmation, at the date and time shown. The permitted number of diners for the booking will be as detailed in your reservation confirmation. The booking fee is not refundable and cannot be deducted from the restaurant bill.
5.2 Beverages are not included in the First Table offer.
5.3 Restaurants may impose special conditions on First Table bookings. Any applicable special conditions will be disclosed to you before you complete your booking, and you will be required to accept them as part of the booking process. By completing your booking, you agree to be bound by those special conditions. Special conditions vary by restaurant and may include, without limitation, requirements to purchase beverages and exclusions of certain menu items from the discount. While First Table seeks to minimise the use of special conditions, their inclusion and content are determined by the restaurant.
5.4 The First Table Offer cannot be combined with any other offers, in-house specials, drink specials, discounts or promotion, unless the restaurant consents to it at its sole discretion.
5.5 The First Table offer is only available for the booked number of diners, including adults and children of any age.

6. Changes, cancellations & refunds

6.1 Check out our Cancellation Policy for our terms and conditions on cancellations.
6.2 Bookings cannot be transferred to another date, venue, or time.
6.3 Except as set out in the Cancellation Policy and without affecting any statutory rights or remedies you may have under applicable law, booking fees are generally non-refundable. Refunds or credits will be provided where required by law, including where a restaurant cannot accommodate your reservation for any reason other than you arriving more than 15 minutes after the time specified on your reservation confirmation, or where First Table or the restaurant cannot provide the booked service for reasons not caused by your breach of these Terms and Conditions or applicable law.
6.4 First Table reserves the absolute right to cancel and refund any confirmed booking resulting from an error or incorrect information presented on the Platform, such as genuine pricing, availability, technical or administrative errors or incorrect information presented on the Platform, including availability errors where it would not reasonably be possible to honour the booking as confirmed. Where this occurs, First Table will notify affected customers as soon as reasonably practicable and provide a full refund of any booking fee paid. Nothing in this clause affects any statutory rights or remedies available under applicable law.

7. Booking and arrival at the restaurant

7.1 All diners must arrive within 15 minutes of the booked time. The restaurant is not obliged to honour the discount or the reservation if you arrive more than 15 minutes after the time specified on your confirmation.  Repeated failure to attend reservations at the reserved time may result in your account being suspended in accordance with our Cancellation Policy.
7.2 The First Table offer will not be upheld, and your booking fee will be forfeited if more than the number of diners stated on your confirmation attend the reservation.
7.3 When you arrive, let the staff know you’ve booked with First Table and show them your booking confirmation (digital or printed).
7.4 You will be required to pay the restaurant directly for your bill.  Double-check your bill before paying to confirm the offer has been applied, and retain your receipt.
7.5 The restaurant has sole discretion where First Table diners are seated.
7.6 The restaurant sets the special conditions you have accepted when making the booking.  If you believe the restaurant has changed these special conditions or not honoured the discount offer, then please retain your receipt and advise First Table support@firsttable.com.
7.7 First Table bookings cannot be combined across tables.  The restaurant has no obligation to combine them.
7.8 Bookings are for dine-in only. Taking leftovers home is at the restaurant’s discretion.

8. Other important details

8.1 If the restaurant is licensed, diners will need to be the legal drinking age in that jurisdiction to enter, and the venue may require you to produce photo ID.
8.2  You acknowledge and agree that we accept no liability for the accuracy or currency of menus, pricing or photos provided by restaurants.
8.3  First Table Limited facilitates the booking, arranges the table reservation and allows you to access a 50% discount off the Restaurant’s food bill offering. Otherwise, the restaurant is responsible to you for managing and delivering your dining experience and you are responsible for following the restaurant’s own terms and policies.  First Table Limited is not responsible for the restaurant experience, does not act as agent for the restaurant and has no liability for any matters that do not relate to the reservation process and terms offered on the Platform.  Clause 7.6 of these Terms and Conditions outlines the process for disputes over the amount charged by the restaurant.
8.4 First Table Limited encourages diners to leave reviews of restaurants on its Platform after attending the restaurant.  These reviews are available to other diners on the Platform and can also be shared with the restaurant privately at your discretion.  First Table monitors all review content and reserves the right to exclude reviews where they do not meet our Review Guidelines.
8.5 This reservation is not exchangeable for cash and is not permitted for resale.
8.6 Digital Services Act - Average Monthly Active Recipients.  Pursuant to the EU Digital Services Act, First Table Limited is in an initial reference period for the preparation of information regarding the average monthly active recipients of its service during its first six months of operation in the European Union . It is below the threshold of 45 million monthly active recipients in the EU for very large online platforms. We will update this page following the completion of this calculation.
8.7 Recommender Systems - We use recommender systems on our Platform to help our users discover restaurants and reviews that we think are the most relevant. We do this by weighing factors that principally include your location, any search inputs and filters you provide, previous bookings, reviews, bookings, popularity, and ratings of venues.
