In Sandyford, Dublin, Michie Sushi is a friendly, family-run haunt where the welcome is as warm as the miso. Born as a tiny takeaway and now an award-winning casual dining spot, it keeps things relaxed and informal, the kind of place “filled with smiles and laughter.” Loyal regulars return for sushi that is consistently praised, crafted with care and served without fuss.

The menu leans into clean Japanese flavours and satisfying textures: glistening salmon and tuna nigiri, neat hosomaki and hand-rolled temaki, from a classic California roll to a crispy salmon number. Comfort comes in the form of chicken katsu curry, while sides such as miso soup bobbing with seaweed, scallions and tofu, or tori karaage, bring umami depth and crunch in equal measure.

For something hearty, poke bowls arrive over warm rice with varied toppings and a side of miso soup, while thoughtful combos make choosing effortless, whether salmon and tuna or vegetarian. Little diners are looked after with mini sushi sets and chicken katsu curry. To sip, think Sapporo beer or gojiberry and green tea; to finish, banana katsu or a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.

Settle in, linger over the flavours, and let the good times roll.
